
Indian stock markets closed with a decline on Thursday, but during this period investors' wealth increased by about ₹ 53,000 crore. This was possible mainly due to the rise in the shares of small and medium companies.
Sensex and Nifty fell. Sensex fell 151 points to close at 59,135. Nifty closed below 25,150 at 25,124. Automobile and oil and gas stocks saw a decline. However, on the other hand, IT and media stocks saw a rise.
Investors' wealth increased. The market cap of companies listed on BSE increased by about ₹ 39,000 crore. The BSE midcap index fell by 0.27% and the smallcap index fell by 0.56%.

Investors appeared cautious ahead of the release of some important data related to the US economy. But the rise in the shares of small and medium companies supported the investors and increased their wealth substantially.
