The market capitalization of venture-backed companies in India has surged past $100 billion, fueled by a stock market rally and a wave of unicorn IPOs.
Info Edge, the owner of Naukri.com, went public in 2006 as one of India's first digital companies, followed by MakeMyTrip , which listed on Nasdaq in 2010.
Both have now surpassed $10 billion in market cap. India Mart, a B2B marketplace, listed its shares in 2019.
The major wave of unicorn IPOs started in 2021, post-Covid-19. While some companies from this wave have underperformed, others have thrived.
At the time of listing, the combined market cap of these companies was $65 billion, now exceeding $100 billion.
