Theranautilus, a deep-tech startup specializing in nanorobotics for healthcare, has raised $1.2 million in seed funding. The round was led by Pi Ventures and saw participation from Golden Sparrow Ventures, Lalit Keshre (CEO of Groww), and Abhishek Goyal (founder and CEO of Tracxn).
The startup, incubated at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), plans to utilize the funds to establish an ISO-certified manufacturing unit. This facility will focus on commercializing nanorobotics-based medical devices, initially targeting dental care applications, and filing new international patents.
“Nanorobots are currently made on a lab scale. However, for clinical trials, we need to transition to industrial-scale production. The goal is to create medical devices that can precisely control nanorobots within the human body,” said Shanmukh Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of Theranautilus.
With over two billion individuals worldwide suffering from dental hypersensitivity, the startup sees a $6 billion global market opportunity. “Theranautilus has the potential to redefine dental hypersensitivity treatment and establish new benchmarks in healthcare,” said Sohil Bhagat, Principal at Pi Ventures.
This investment reflects increasing interest in advanced technologies like AI and robotics across industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and logistics. Recently, AI-driven robotics startup Haber raised $38 million in a round led by Creaegis, while Perceptyne, a robotics firm, secured $3 million in seed funding with backing from Endiya Partners and Yali Capital.
